Thanksgiving Weekend and the Terry Fox Run

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! We had a fantastic day for the Terry Fox run and demonstrated a huge amount of resilience as we walked and ran many times around the school yard.

We have also started our Global Read Aloud book entitled "Pax." We will soon start sharing our ideas with a class in Wisconsin.

Please check the agenda for the October to December Hot Lunch order form.

Representing, Comparing and Ordering Numbers

This week we have been working hard learning to represent numbers in various ways, as well as ordering whole numbers and decimal numbers. Today we spent some time modelling and ordering decimal numbers to thousandths. Working with numbers less than 1 can be re-enforced and practiced at home easily by talking about money.

We have also been focused on improving our descriptive writing by learning how to include more detail in sentences using adjectives and adverbs.

Remember that "Picture Day," and "Meet the Teacher" are next week.
Have a great weekend!

Great first and second day of school!
Yesterday we had fun designing "mini action figure" contraptions to launch a mini figure from one point to another. We also presented our designs and discussed how we where successful.

Today, we brainstormed a giant list of expectations for our class this year as well as played a community building game called "Zip, Zap, Zop!"
Students are reminded to have two sets of shoes (indoor and outdoor) as well as a book to read. It would also be helpful to have a pencil sharpener and pencil crayons.
Thanks
